Brugger Property

Brugger PropertyThis project involved the acquisition of property formerly owned by the Brugger family by Fairview Township. A ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating this acquisition was held on October 11, 2006. This property, located at the northern terminus of Avonia Road near the mouth of Trout Run, is now known as Avonia Beach Park and includes 3.59 acres of lakefront property along with the original summer home built in 1918. The purpose of this acquisition is to permanently provide public access and recreation along approximately 450 feet of Lake Erie beach, and to create an educational opportunity which promotes environmental awareness of the unique features of Lake Erie and its shoreline. The purchase price for this property was $950,000 with funds coming from (by amount of contribution) DCNR, PFBC, CZM, Fairview Township, LERC, and the Sons of Lake Erie. PA Sea Grant provided technical assistance to the Township in support of this acquisition.
