PROJECTS:
Sustainable Land Use Development

Harborcreek Township Land Use Regulations

The firm of GCCA was hired to undertake an audit of the Harborcreek Township comprehensive plan, as well as the Township’s zoning and subdivision regulations. This audit determined where regulatory language might be added to promote land use development that would incorporate the conservation design approach. PA Sea Grant has assisted with the review of these documents and in fashioning modifications which will not only give developers the ability to select conservation design development, but will add incentives to encourage this type of development. By incorporating this form of development as an option in the Township’s land use regulations, and by including incentives for developers to utilize conservation design, the expectation is that other municipalities will adopt similar regulations, making this the standard method of development in the area.
