Pennsylvania Sea Grant is hiring a coastal outreach specialist for the Erie region

Note: This position will be based at the Tom Ridge Environmental Center, 301 Peninsula Drive, Erie, PA 16505

Pennsylvania Sea Grant, a partnership of National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Penn State University, and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, is dedicated to promoting the ecological and economic sustainability of Pennsylvania’s coastal resources through the development of science-based research, education, and extension programs. Pennsylvania Sea Grant is part of a national network of 34 Sea Grant College Programs.

Pennsylvania Sea Grant seeks an energetic, dynamic, and experienced coastal outreach professional to develop and implement a regional outreach program focused on healthy ecosystems and watershed restoration, and to launch and coordinate a Penn State Extension Master Watershed Steward Program in Erie, Crawford, and Warren counties.

This position is an excellent opportunity for a self-motivated individual with outreach and community-building skills and a watershed or science background. Specific areas of focus may include aquatic invasive species management, marine debris prevention, and water quality improvements for the Lake Erie ecosystem and watershed.

This is a unique position in that duties and activities shall be equally split between coastal outreach and master watershed steward program duties. Pennsylvania Sea Grant is managing and administering the position, with funding and collaborative assistance through the Penn State Extension Master Watershed Steward Program.
