Pennsylvania Sea Grant 2025 Summer Undergraduate Internship Opportunity
Programmatic Area: Communications – Digital Storyteller

Science communications plays a vital role in elevating timely issues to the forefront. By thoughtfully crafting clear, concise, and consistent content and messaging, Pennsylvania Sea Grant communications staff help make sense of science for any audience.
Pennsylvania Sea Grant seeks a science communications intern to serve as Digital Storyteller. Working in collaboration with the communications lead, the Digital Storyteller will identify, propose, and research stories, create and/or curate assets and visual content, and produce content and/or stories for promotion via electronic newsletter, social media, the Pennsylvania Sea Grant website (seagrant.psu.edu), and other outlets as determined.
These tasks will involve regular communication with Pennsylvania Sea Grant staff and Sea Grant Educators in the Great Lakes, mid-Atlantic, and national networks, and with relevant partners from state agencies, non-governmental organizations, schools, and more.
This internship will build upon learned communications skills and techniques and enhance understanding of Ocean, coastal, watershed, and ecosystem-related topics. Interest and coursework in science communications, storytelling, writing, photography, and video production are preferred.
Qualifications: The intern should have strong writing and organizational skills. The ability to work independently, communicate effectively to individuals and larger groups and to accurately synthesize and deliver information is preferred.
