Field experiences aboard Gannon University’s research vessel (RV), the Environaut turn students and teachers into scientists and researchers. Participants sample Presque Isle Bay and Lake Erie sediments using a Ponar dredge and water with plankton nets and Kemmerer tubes. Students deploy testing equipment including a Hydrolab, Secci Disc, sounder and underwater robotic units. They conduct water chemistry testing and collect weather station data on environmental conditions. The ship has a 20 passenger capacity. Cost is $8 per passenger. Shipboard education programs run from May 15-Oct 15.
