Picnic Shelter #2 – Waterworks Area at Presque Isle State Park, Erie, PA
Event for K-12 formal and nonformal educators
Pennsylvania Sea Grant, in partnership with Asbury Woods, IU5, the Stroud Water Research Center, and PA DCNR Parks, is pleased to provide this professional development program that will bring local environmental issues to life – on the beach at Presque Isle State Park in Erie, PA! This hands-on and immersive workshop is designed to help K–12 educators plan Meaningful Watershed Educational Experiences (MWEEs) that spark curiosity and empower K-12 learners to investigate real environmental issues in their own communities. Spend the day on the beach exploring field tested strategies, collecting and analyzing environmental data from Lake Erie’s ecosystems, and planning authentic, learner-centered action projects – aligned to PA STEELS standards. Participants will leave with a ready to use MWEE plan and resources ($100 stipend and 6 Act 48 hours as appropriate).
Registrants must complete the free 8-hour self-paced online MWEE 101 before or after the workshop (8 Act 48 hours as appropriate) and will be certified as a PA MWEE Ambassador upon completion of both the MWEE 101 and workshop.
Be prepared for outdoor learning and bring your own lunch and water bottle.
