A 90-minute professional development session about Great Lakes literacy & aquatic invasive species (AIS) topics, and ways to include them into the classroom or educational setting.
Who’s invited?
Formal and non-formal educators of grades 4-12
What’s included?
- An overview of AIS in the Great Lakes
- A presentation by guest lecturer and PA Sea Grant-funded researcher Dr. Casey Bradshaw-Wilson
- An introduction to Meaningful Watershed Education Experience (MWEEs)
- Tips for incorporating the topic into the classroom or educational setting
- Time for discussion and resource sharing.
Prerequisite
All registrants must complete the asynchronous, Aquatic Invasive Species Great Lakes Literacy education exploration (GLLee) Google Classroom module by September 29, 2026 in order to participate.
- You will need to use a personal Gmail address (i.e., not your school Gmail address) to access the materials.
- The GLLee module should take no more than three hours to complete.
Stipend available
Pennsylvania educators who complete the AIS GLLee module, participate in the “A Deeper Dive into the Great Lakes Topic: Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS)” session, and submit the evaluation form at the end of the session are eligible for a $100 stipend.
